PE & Sport

‘Aim Higher’

PE and Sport play a very important part in the life of Hazel Slade  Primary Academy and at least two, hour sessions per week, are dedicated to physical activity in the curriculum. We believe that physical education and sport contribute to the holistic development of young people and through participation in sport and physical education, young people learn more about key values such as teamwork, fair play and respect for themselves and others.

There is significant evidence to show the positive effects of sport and exercise on children’s physical health, growth and development. Furthermore, sport also provides a healthy environment for young people to learn how to deal with competition and how to cope with both winning and losing.

In 2019 we achieved the School Games Silver Award.

A new subject leader for PE has been in place from September 2019.

Swimming is an important life skill and we are delighted that 100% of our previous Year 6 pupils met the government minimum standard of being able to swim 25m. This academic year pupils in Years 2-6 are having school swimming lessons.

We are also delighted to be able to continue to offer Forest School Sessions to pupils.
